  9. Apple Reduces Suggested Retail Prices on Selected PowerBook Duo

  12. CAMPBELL, California--April 8, 1993--The Apple USA division of Apple
  13. Computer, Inc. has reduced prices in the United States on selected
  14. PowerBook Duo computer products.
  15.     Effective Monday, April 5, the suggested retail prices (SRPs) were
  16. reduced on the following products:  PowerBook Duo 210 4/80, PowerBook
  17. Duo 230 4/80, PowerBook Duo 230 4/120 and the PowerBook Duo 230 4/120
  18. with modem.  The new prices are effective immediately.
  19.     The PowerBook Duo System was named Breakthrough Product of the Year
  20. by MacUser Magazine and named Best Portable System at the Fall 1992
  21. Comdex.  It joins the other Apple PowerBook computers in being named
  22. Best New Products of 1992 by Fortune Magazine, Business Week, Time
  23. and US News and World Report.  The PowerBook Duo system is noted for
  24. bridging the gap between desktop and notebook computers by offering a
  25. full-featured desktop computer and a lightweight (4 lb) notebook
  26. computer in a single system -- it  has been called "the best of both worlds."
  27.     "The PowerBook Duo System has been in high demand and short supply
  28. since introduction in October of 1992," said Bob Puette, president of
  29. Apple USA division of Apple Computer, Inc.  "We are now catching up
  30. with the demand and the product is more readily available at Apple
  31. resellers.  These price reductions will provide customers with
  32. excellent products at unmatched value."
  33.     Puette noted that while Apple USA is announcing a change in SRPs on
  34. these Apple products, it is difficult to estimate what effect this
  35. action will have on retail pricing set by resellers.
